NetRegs finds construction workers prefer telephone to internet advise

A government telephone helpline will be launched to advise construction workers on environmental legal questions.

The helpline will provide anonymous and free guidance, and users can obtain special fact sheets to help business owners.

The telephone line was set-up as a result of a report by NetRegs, a government website providing guidance on environmental legislation to businesses, that claimed construction industry workers prefer to gain their information via the telephone.

The reason being that most of the time workers were unable to use the internet because they were outside of their offices.

A trial telephone line will be launched on 14 January and will run until 31 March. The service will be available to workers in the South East of England.
