The £4.8m Castleford Bridge in West Yorkshire has officially opened.

The scheme, designed by McDowell + Benedetti and Arup, marks the completion of a wider regeneration project in the area. The crossing, which has been shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award, aims to create a safer pedestrian route than a 200-year-old bridge downstream. Costain was the main contractor on the scheme and Philip Pank & Partners was the quantity surveyor.
