Laing O’Rourke Scotland has won the contract for the £350m Quartermile redevelopment of the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The firm will begin construction work on the first phases of the 19 acre site in the next few weeks. The initial contract is worth in the region of £50m. Quartermile will transform the brownfield site into a residential and business community. The architectural team includes Foster and Partners as masterplanner and lead architect. Other practices involved are Scottish architects CDA, Hurd Rolland, Richard Murphy Architects and Page & Park.
