Capita Symonds, Davis Langdon and EC Harris win contract to carry out national school building survey

Capita Symonds, Davis Langdon and EC Harris have bagged the hotly contested contract to carry out the government’s national school building survey.

Partnerships for Schools (PfS), the government’s education delivery agency, said the three consultants had been selected to carry out Property Data Surveys (PDS) as part of the Property Data Survey Programme (PDSP).

Between them Capita Symonds, Davis Langdon, an AECOM company, and EC Harris will survey up to 23,000 educational establishments across the country, providing a national overview of the condition of the school estate that will be used to prioritise future maintenance allocations.

The three firms won out after ten bidders were shortlisted and have been appointed to carry out the surveys in each of the following regions:

  • North West: Davis Langdon an AECOM company
  • North East: Capita Symonds
  • Yorkshire & the Humber: Capita Symonds
  • West Midlands: Davis Langdon an AECOM company
  • East Midlands: Davis Langdon an AECOM company
  • East of England: EC Harris
  • South West: Capita Symonds
  • South East: EC Harris
  • London: EC Harris

Anthony Walker, PfS deputy director technical & property said the consultants would “survey England’s entire education estate for the first time”.

“The work of these firms will span across all local authorities and schools, eliminating the potential for regional variations in the data collected,” he said.
