Division posts £27m profit in 2025 after £24m loss last time

Bam’s UK construction business returned to profit last year, the Dutch contractor said in its 2025 results this morning.

It said the building business, headed by Kim Sides, posted an adjusted profit of €31m (£27m) following a €27m (£24m) loss last time. Revenue was up 7% to €1.1bn (£978m).

In its results, the firm said: “Construction UK returned to profitability, supported by strong execution and a disciplined, selective approach to tendering.”

It added: “In London, commercial planning activity is rising, with growing emphasis on retrofit developments.”

The firm’s civils business, which trades as Bam Nuttall, said income was up 8% to €1.8bn (£1.6bn) although adjusted profit fell 11% to €92m (£80m). The firm said: “Performance in civil engineering in the UK and Ireland remained robust against a strong comparative period in 2024.

Bam said the UK and Ireland business, which is headed up by John Wilkinson, had an order book of €6.9bn (£6bn) at the year-end, down 4% on last time. It said the fall was down to the negative effect of the exchange rate between the pound and euro.

Overall Bam group revenue, which includes its business from the Netherlands, was up 9% to €7bn (£6.1bn) with adjusted profit up 20% to €400m (£349m).
