Contractor will 'carefully consider' details of decision over cover pricing and grounds for appeal

Contractor Willmott Dixon is considering an appeal against the Office of Fair Trading’s decision to fine the firm £4.5m for cover pricing.

The firm said it would “carefully consider” the detail of the OFT’s findings and “contemplate whether any further action is required, including any grounds for appeal”.

The contractor was hit with the fine, payable over three years, after being implicated in anti-competitive behaviour in relation to three tenders.

It said it had introduced a “more robust” competition law compliance policy since the incidents were brought to its attention and would strive to ensure the breaches would not happen again.

“We hope that our customers, our staff and our shareholders will recognise that to have been implicated in this investigation ‘flies in the face’ of everything Willmott Dixon Group stands for,” it said.
