I can't understand why statements like this have not been made before as it is so obvious. Take government rent paid to private landlords. A figure of £9.3bn per annum. This rent roll would support borrowing of £186bn and at a stroke free up hundreds of thousands of houses for the private rental market and help rents to fall especially in our cities. Just get on with it javid.
