Announcement comes the day after winning £73m of energy and housing work
Housebuilder and contractor Galliford Try has secured two healthcare contracts worth £40m.
This includes a £29 million contract to build the 240-unit Hagley Road retirement village in Birmingham for the ExtraCare Charitable Trust.
The scheme includes a village centre with gym, restaurant, library, shops and an indoor bowling green, and care facilities for the elderly.
The project is set to start on site in October 2011, and complete in September 2013.
In addition Galliford Try has closed deals on two £5m schemes that mark the latest phase of the South East Essex LIFT programme for the South East Essex Primary Care Trust.
The announcement follows the firm’s announcement yesterday it had picked up £73m of work in two contracts covering petrochemicals and high-end residential.
Galliford Try chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said he was “delighted” with the Hagley Road win.
“This award is testament to our proven track record in delivering not only high-quality residential schemes but also the community facilities that make these self-contained developments a real success,” he said.
