Wembley win shoots Australian firm to top of league and puts it in top five for the year to October.
Wembley stadium has propelled Australian contractor Multiplex to the top of the league for last month. The heavily delayed £445m deal to rebuild the home of football meant that Multiplex was £336m ahead of second-placed HBG.

Australian-owned Bovis Lend Lease is in third place and French-owned Vinci in fifth, ensuring that foreign firms are dominant.

Overseas firms are doing well in the yearly table, too, with Sir Robert McAlpine, in first place, the only UK-owned firm in the top five.

US firm HOK maintained its place at the top of the designers’ league, leaving British firms to rule the clients’ table. J Sainsbury was the country’s top client, followed by the Home Office and the Ministry of Defence.
