Clay roof tiles

Marley Eternit’s Acme double camber clay plain tiles have been used on a bespoke two-bedroom property in rural Gloucestershire, which has won “Roof of the Year” at the National Federation of Roofing Contractors Awards. The company said its tiles were chosen due to their unique double curve, making them the ideal choice to create the highly complex curved roof. Almost 60,000 Marley Eternit Acme double camber clay plain tiles were fixed to the roof, all of which had to cut by hand on site.

Solar roof

Cupa Pizarras solar thermal collector system, Thermoslate, has been installed at a private home in Gaillagos, in the French Pyrenees. The main focus of the owners was to reduce their energy consumption without giving up an elegant, traditional slate roof. The company said only four collectors installed on a total surface of 5m2 were enough to cover more than 60% of the owners’ hot water needs (250 litres per day). This solar thermal system was installed and fully integrated into the CUPA 10 Excellence natural slate roof.
