Support services group inreases interim pre-tax profit 127% to £48m

Amec has raised its 2007 profit forecast by £5m after reporting a big increase in interim pre-tax profit.

The support services group increased pre-tax profit 127% to £48m for the six months ended 30 June 2007. Revenues increased 14% to £1.152bn.

Amec said that strong growth in its natural resources, power and process businesses helped boost profit.

Chief executive Samir Brikho said he was confident the firm will deliver its 6% margin targets by 2008, and the 8% forecast for 2010.
