Shanghai office wins design contract for hotel, apartment and office towers in Chinese city of Chengdu

Atkins’s Shanghai office has won a design contract in Chengdu, China, for a three-tower complex including a hotel, apartments and office space.

The project’s design is of a crystalline form split into three with a central public area.

The three 160m towers will provide 200,000m2 of space in total. A 550-room Hilton hotel will form the central residential area.

The development is located on the main thoroughfare that runs from central Chengdu to the new government and exhibition centre in the south of the city.

Construction work is due to commence at the end of 2008.
