Connect CNDR will build and operate new single carriageway near Carlisle and manage 150km of other roads

Balfour Beatty joint venture Connect CNDR has reached financial close on a £176m PPP road scheme for Cumbria County Council.

The UK company will build the Carlisle Northern Development Route (CNDR), an 8.25km single carriageway designed to reduce traffic in Carlisle city centre, from junction 44 of the M6 to the A595 south-west of Carlisle.

Under the 30-year concession, the joint venture will also manage, operate and invest in approximately 150km of existing roads in Cumbria.
