Contractor's Scottish division secures contract for work on School of Informatics.

The Scottish division of Balfour Beatty has won a £27m contract from the University of Edinburgh to work on its School of Informatics.

The Phase 1 Potterrow Development will see a new centralised informatics department including offices, meeting rooms, a large internal atrium and specialist laboratories.

Edinburgh's School of Informatics is currently located across five buildings but the university hopes the work will help the department build on its reputation as the leading school of its kind in the UK.

The client’s design team includes architect Bennetts Associates and Reiach & Hall, structural engineer Buro Happold, and quantity surveyors Turner and Townsend.
