Contractor named on redesign and refurbishment of Dumfries hospital

The BAM group has been chosen by Scottish health officials to take on the redesign and refurbishment of a £120m hospital redevelopment in southern Scotland.

The group will take joint responsibility for healthcare planning, design and construction of Dumfries hospital.

A business case is due to be presented to NHS Dumfries and Galloway in 2009, with works aiming to finish by 2016.

Director of health services Jeff Ace said that the development will easily be the largest in the board's history, transforming the whole site.
