Three chasing St Thomas Yard scheme
Firms bidding for Great Portland Estates’ revised plans for an office scheme next to the Shard are hoping to hear by the end of the month who has won the £150m deal.
The scheme, which will replace a 1980s office building with an 11-storey office block and refurbish a row of grade II-listed Georgian houses, was given the green light last month after a years-long planning battle.
Previously known as New City Court, Mace, Bovis and Sir Robert McAlpine are all completing post tender queries on the scheme which has been renamed St Thomas Yard. Work is expected to start on site next summer for completion in 2028.

Meanwhile, GPE said it has been given planning to revamp an eight-storey building in the West End called Whittington House.

It was designed in the early 1970s by Richard Seifert with GPE hailing the proposal as “an exciting opportunity to create an outstanding HQ workspace”.
GPE bought the scheme last autumn for £58.5m. It said it wants the revamped building to be completed by spring 2027.
