The Joseph Rowntree Trust’s pioneering development – the pre-fabricated city-centre apartments for single people at affordable rents (CASPAR) housing scheme in Leeds – will be demolished.

The building, which was designed by Levitt Bernstein and built by Japanese contractor Kajima, was evacuated in 2005 after fears it could fall down in severe weather conditions. A report by Arup said there was a 2% chance the structure could blow down in high winds.
