Consultant will provide multidisciplinary services and AA cost management on Fleetwood Nautical Campus project

Consultant Capita Symonds has won a contract to provide multidisciplinary services on the £6.75m refurbishment of the education facilities and halls of residence at Fleetwood Nautical Campus at Blackpool and The Fylde College.

AA Projects will be providing cost and project management services on the project which is being designed by architects Wilson & Mason.Urban Vision, the company’s joint venture partnership with Salford City Council, will be providing client agent, M&E and structural engineering, CDMC and BREEAM services.

Capita won the contract as part of its place on the government’s £800m Buying Solutions Project Management & Full Design Team Services Framework.

The Fleetwood Nautical Campus is part of Blackpool and The Fylde College, a large Further Education institution spread over four main sites along the Fylde Coast which enrols over 25,000 students each year.

The campus’ educational programme includes Cadet and Deck Rating Training Programmes to Master Mariner; STCW95 Short Courses; National Vocational Qualifications in Merchant Vessel Operations; a HND in Nautical Science; and the first year of a BSc (Hons) in Maritime Studies.

The scheme is due for completion in August 2012.
