Friendship Award given to engineer for his advice on water management

A director at UK engineer Mott MacDonald has been given an award by the Chinese government for his contribution to water management in the country.

Don Moore was presented with the “Friendship Award” – an accolade given to foreign experts who have helped China’s economic and social progress – at a ceremony in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, last week.

Moore, whose work in China includes advising the government on a new Water Law and directing the Songhua River Flood Management Study, said he was “truly honoured” to receive the award.

“It is one of the highlights of my career working in the water resource sector,” he said.

The Friendship Award has been given to 850 foreigners since 1991.
