Stourbridge College project will house arts and music department

Engineer Mott MacDonald has been appointed to a £31m college scheme in the West Midlands.

The firm said it would provide civil, structural and mechanical and electrical engineering services on a new building for Stourbridge College in Brierley Hill. Broadway Malyan is architect on the project.

The four-storey scheme will house the college's arts and music department and include performance space, teaching areas and a community library.

A biomass boiler will be installed as part of a bid to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.

Mott MacDonald's project manager, Richard Fry, said: “We are pleased to be involved in this project which forms part of the regeneration plan for Brierley Hill. We aim to help deliver a campus that demonstrates good practice in sustainability and that can be enjoyed by the local community and future generations of students for years to come.”
