The Construction Industry Council has called for a new government to create a full-time construction minister after the election

In its “election manifesto”, the CIC also demanded that the chief construction adviser be given a fully resourced office to achieve a “joined up” approach in supporting housing, education, health, infrastructure and carbon reduction programmes.

The pleas form part of 10 key points which the CIC said must be achieved if the construction industry is to aid in the delivery of a low carbon economy.

Other goals include “speed and fairness in the planning system at all levels”, and cutting all site fatalities.
