Official memorandum of understanding is signed between Civil Engineering Contractors Association, FMB, NFB and Scottish Building Federation

The Construction Alliance, which brings together four major trade bodies, was formally launched yesterday.

The Alliance includes the Civil Engineering Contractors Association, the Federation of Master Builders, the National Federation of Builders and the Scottish Building Federation. The four organisations have been undertaking joint work for several months but yesterday signed the official memorandum of understanding.

The Alliance now represents a combined 13,500 companies and organisations.

Mark Wakeford, the Alliance’s chief spokesperson, said: “The Construction Alliance will represent the interests of its members at the Strategic Forum for Construction. The Forum is the only pan-industry round-table for discussing strategic issues which has the authority and structure to inform government and promote construction best practice from procurement, energy efficiency and training, to professional standards, health and safety and government policy.

“As a coordinated group, the Alliance will help shape construction policy as well as identify where action is needed to drive improvements, best practice and innovation across our industry.”
