Developer Argent St George has begun the consultation exercise over the regeneration of King's Cross, soon to be the largest development site in London.
Five thousand copies of a 40-page document entitled Principles for a Human City have been sent to local interest groups and residents.

The document sets out 10 guiding principles, emphasising high-density mixed-use development and a traditional conservationist approach to urban planning.

Robert Evans, of Argent, said: "We are trying to build a consensus. People have been waiting 20 years for King's Cross to be developed. We want to avoid a public inquiry."

The joint developer hopes to draw up a draft master plan for the 21 ha site in the autumn and to submit a planning application next summer. Consultants include urban designer EDAW, architect Allies & Morrison and Arup.
