Peter Mumford arrives next month from Balfour Beatty 

Costain has brought in a former Aecom director and EC Harris partner to head up its £400m natural resources business.

Peter Mumford will start his new role of managing director for the new business at the beginning of next year and will also join Costain’s executive board.

A former executive director of Highways England, he arrives from Balfour Beatty where he was managing director of its regional civils business.

He spent nearly three years at Aecom, having also spent four years as head of programme and project management at EC Harris. He also spent a decade at T&T.

Costain said Mumford will be tasked with growing a business that last year posted a turnover of £405m. The business is made up of water, energy, defence and nuclear energy.

The division’s ongoing jobs include utilities infrastructure upgrades at Sellafield in Cumbria and decommissioning work at the Trawsfynydd nuclear power station in North Wales.
