Remains of 10 people unearthed at a housing development site in Albuquerque, New Mexico

The remains of at least 10 people have been dug up on a building site in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the US. Investigators are combing the site for further bodies.

One of the victims has been identified as prostitute Victoria Chavez, who was reported missing in 2004. Police said they are looking at a list of 16 prostitutes who went missing around the same time.

All the bodies are thought to have been buried between 2000 and 2005.

The search began two weeks ago when hikers found human remains as they crossed the area, which had been recently bulldozed to make way for a housing development.
