Leeds architect and Hoare Lea among those working on £40m scheme
Birmingham-based NEC Group has teamed up with Lothian Leisure Development for a £40m indoor arena on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
The pair are planning an 8,000-seat venue at Straiton in Midlothian which will also include conference, retail and leisure space, along with a cinema and two hotels.
The scheme has been drawn up by Leeds firm Nick Brown Architects. Others working on the plans include structural engineer Buro Happold, landscape architect Harrison Stevens and M&E engineer Hoare Lea.
It is due to go into planning by the end of next year.
NEC, which operates two arenas in Birmingham, will run the complex which is set to be finished by the beginning of 2024.
