South London scheme being developed by Avanton

A scheme by Farrells to turn a former carpet warehouse on south London’s Old Kent Road into homes and offices has been given the green light.

Developers Avanton and Urban & Provincial want to turn the Carpetright complex at 651 Old Kent Road into 262 homes and 20,000 sq ft of office space.

The scheme (pictured), which Avanton said has a development value of £130m, will comprise two towers of 10 and 19 storeys.

Work is due to start on site early next year ahead of completion at the end of 2022.

It is the third scheme in Avanton’s £800m regeneration plan of the area which will see more than 2,000 homes built and is part of the council’s wider £11bn makeover for the Old Kent Road.
