Egis, which owns WW+P and Thomas & Adamson, says it sees UK and Ireland as ‘priority markets’
The French parent company of architect Weston Williamson + Partners and QS Thomas & Adamson has appointed a former Arcadis director as its single managing director for the UK and Ireland.
Egis has promoted Francois Basselot to the role as the global consultancy firm embarks on plans to “significantly expand” its operations in the two territories.
Basselot joined Egis in 2023, leading the firm’s energy and sustainable cities division across Europe and Africa.

Prior to this, he spent nine years at Atkins before moving to Arcadis in 2021 as market sector director for contractors and partners in the UK and Ireland.
Egis said it planned to integrate its teams in the UK and Ireland, which it described as “priority markets” in infrastructure sectors including rail, water, energy and roads.
The firm is also working on the Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C nuclear power plants, with its teams on the two projects based in an office in Bristol opened in 2024.
Other UK firms owned by Egis include architecture practice 10 Design, engineer Inhabit, engineering consultancy Omnia Projects and project manager Collaborative Project Management Services.
Egis Europe and Africa chief executive Charlie Hodgson said: “The UK and Ireland are priority markets for us, with both governments having committed to major investment in modernising critical infrastructure.”
He added that Basselot brings “outstanding credentials and deep knowledge of both countries as we integrate our team to ensure we’re offering our clients the strongest possible expertise”.
Basselot added: “Our technical heritage is strong across the two countries in Transport, Water & Environment, Energy Transition including Nuclear and the Built environment.
“Integrating such deep technical expertise in this way will benefit clients with access to technical and project management expertise as the UK and Ireland grapple with their own infrastructure challenges.”
Meanwhile, Egis’ UK managing director Claire Davies has been appointed as chief operating officer for Europe and Africa while her counterpart in Ireland, Steve Preece, has become managing director for operations and maintenance at Egis in Ireland.
The firm’s business in Ireland is currently working on the operation and maintenance of the Dublin Tunnel and 470km of the country’s motorways.
