Hong Kong contractor wins three contracts, including part of Kowloon southern rail link.

Hong Kong contractor Gammon Construction, in which Balfour Beatty has a 50% stake, has won three new contracts with a total value of HK$2.64bn (£185m).

In the biggest of the three contracts, worth £140m, Gammon has been appointed to construct part of the Kowloon southern rail link. The client is the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation and completion is expected in 2009.

Gammon has also been appointed to carry out construction and design work and to install air conditioning and electrical systems at the Venetian Hotel and Casino complex in Macau.

The main contract to build the Venetian Hotel, won by Gammon in March and worth £175m, is already under way. It is a 32-story hotel with 3000 rooms and is scheduled to open in 2007.
