Construction consultant is cost manager on the £4.3m scheme for luxury brand

Construction consultant Gleeds has been appointed as cost manager and CDM-coordinator to the £4.3m refit of the new Mulberry headquarters in Kensington, London.

The internationally famed luxury brand will be vacating their existing premises in Shepherd’s Bush and New Bond Street as the team has outgrown the space and will be taking up residence in the 36,000ft2 Edwardian building which has been redesigned by UDS and Gensler.

The five-storey office will be large enough to cater for a staff of up to 150 people. It will feature a show room floor capable of displaying the full and expanding product range with a special area for VIP fittings. The new premises will become the home for the design, sales, marketing, retail and web teams.

Guy Bonser, partner at Gleeds responsible for the project, said: “Kensington Church Street is a fabulous location for the Mulberry team however the building does present some challenges. The uneven floor and ceiling heights were specific to previous tenants and the project team will be introducing features that reflect the unique Mulberry brand image. Following successful implementation scheduled for the early part of 2011, Mulberry will have a headquarters that is unique, stylish and practical, functioning as both an office and a show room.”
