Martin Quinn has spent nearly 20 years at London developer
Great Portland Estates’ head of project delivery is leaving after nearly two decades at the firm.
Martin Quinn joined the developer in 2007 but is set to leave this spring after getting the firm’s St Thomas Yard scheme to main contract award “after what was a difficult planning journey”. Bovis beat Mace just before Christmas to take the £150m deal.
The scheme was approved after two redesigns of the project, which was originally envisaged as a 37-storey office tower under plans designed by AHMM and submitted in 2018 before it was cut down to 26 storeys.

These plans were thrown out by former communities secretary Michael Gove in 2023 after GPE brought the application to appeal, with the developer then appointing Orms to redraw the scheme the following year.
In a post on LinkedIn, Quinn said: “I’m hoping to return to the ‘hands on’ delivery of projects, which has always been my passion, rather than overseeing a fantastic development pipeline and team as I have for the last few years at GPE.
“I feel that the time is right to explore a new opportunity, and for one last challenge (or two). It has been an incredible experience, working with some amazing people both within GPE, and our external teams.”
Quinn’s CV includes seven years at ISG, before leaving in 2005, and before that Matthew Hall, the M&E firm owned by the then Amec.
