Housing developer Grainger has submitted plans for a 3,850 home redevelopment of Aldershot Garrison.

Working in partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation and the HCA the firm plans to overhaul the 255 hectare site.

The plans include two new primary schools, 110 hectares of green space, sports facilities and refurbishment of six listed buildings.

The development is due to start in 2014 and take 15 years to complete.

John Beresford, lead development director for the scheme at Grainger, said it would “revitalise” the town.

He added: “By working closely with the community, the Council, the MoD, HCA and other stakeholders, we believe our proposal will bring long-term economic benefits to the wider Aldershot community, while providing much-needed, good quality new homes, new schools and fantastic green open spaces and amenities.”
