Hanif Kara has become the first engineer to become a commissioner at design watchdog Cabe.

Kara is the co-founder of Adams Kara Taylor, which is now part of White Young Green.

He will be joined by Piers Gough, principal of CZWG Architects, and Nick Johnson, deputy chief executive of regeneration company Urban Splash.

John Sorrell, the Cabe chairman, said: “Cabe is delighted to welcome such eminent new commissioners. They bring with them a range of experience, and impressive records in their fields.”

Kara and Gough’s four-year appointments will begin immediately and Johnson will start in December.
