HBG has been confirmed as contractor on a £29m job at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in central London.
The firm beat Laing O'Rourke for the 9800 m2 clinical complex, which includes operating theatres, wards and offices.

Carillion pulled out of the running earlier this year.

HBG is to start on site later this month – the 114-week contract is due to be completed in early 2005. The project team includes architect Anshen Dyer, QS Gardiner & Theobald, structural engineer Symonds and services engineer Arup.

The hospital is planning another £9m project to refurbish and add to a nurses' home at the site, as well as creating 30 rooms for patients, eight care flats and offices.
