Timber frame system provider Prestoplan has developed PresWall Plus, a wall panel with high thermal performance.
Based on a 140mm load-bearing stud wall, it is fully filled with glass mineral wool and sheathed on both sides with 9mm of oriented strand board and a Glidevale thermal membrane.
The design delivers elemental U-values of 0.17 W/m2K, claims the company.
PresWall Plus is designed to achieve a building envelope that can meet levels three and four of the Code for Sustainable Homes with minimal or no requirement for add-on renewables.
As well as limiting heat loss directly through the wall, the panel also significantly reduces heat loss at the junctions with other walls, floors and roofs.
