Firm secures contract to design and build new secondary school in Monmouthshire

Interserve has secured a £36.5m contract to design and build a secondary school in Caldicot, Monmouthshire, South Wales.

The building is part of Monmouthshire County Council’s ‘21st Century Schools Programme’, which will see two new schools built in the county during the next three years.

FTSE-listed Interserve won the contract to build the 13,076m², three-storey school through the South East Wales Schools Capital Working Group.

Work is underway on the project, with the new school expected to open in September this year, housing up to 1,500 students.

Gordon Kew, managing director at Interserve, said: “We look forward to providing a modern new school in Caldicot, which we hope the pupils, teachers and the local community will be proud of.

“As part of the project we will be creating local jobs and using members of our trusted local supply chain.”
