Announcement brings redundancies at construction giant since July to over 900

Construction equipment giant JCB is to cut almost 400 more jobs, it said today.

The 398 redundancies are due to “extreme deterioration in business levels and confidence”, according to the firm. The redundancies include 297 shop floor positions and 101 other staff posts.

The move brings the total number of job losses announced by the firm since July to almost 950.

It comes weeks after workers at JCB's UK assembly plants chose to work a four day week to save 350 staff from losing their jobs in the last round of redundancies, which saw 150 workers lose jobs.
