Host of architects including Bennetts, AHMM and Howells working on London plans
The King’s Cross Group has released pictures of updated plans for the redevelopment of St Pancras Hospital, drawn up by seven architects led by masterplanner Bennetts Associates.
The developer, which owns and manages the 67-acre King’s Cross neighbourhood in north London, revealed the new imagery as the next phase of public consultation on the 3.2-acre hospital site gets underway.
The plans set out further detail on individual plots, buildings and public spaces, with designs from Bennetts Associates, Howells, AHMM, Maccreanor Lavington Architects, Ryder Architecture, Roots and Erect and Gillespies.
St Pancras Hospital is located just north of St Pancras International Station, on the other side of Regent’s Canal from Heatherwick’s Coal Drops Yard shopping centre.
Five existing buildings – South Wing, Gatehouse, West Wing, East Wing and the Residence Building – on the hospital site will be retained under the latest plans for the £500m regeneration.
The proposals would see 180 new homes delivered, which is 70 more than in the previous 2024 proposal. The developer has set a target of delivering 40% of these as affordable.
They also include upgraded healthcare facilities within the refurbished South Wing, complementing those being delivered next door at the new Moorfields and UCL Centre for Eye Health.
The scheme also includes more than 44,000sq m of commercial space, as well as cafes, convenience retail and local services.
More than half of the site will be open public space, with improved links to King’s Cross and Somers Town.
A planning application is due to be sent in to Camden council later this summer.
Related Argent is the development manager for the scheme.
