Mipim latest: Arup plan to be unveiled this summer

An updated masterplan detailing proposals for a revamp of the area around Leeds station ahead of planned HS2 services arriving there in 2033 is expected to be unveiled this summer.

More than 100,000 passengers a day pass through the station, making it the busiest in the north with passenger numbers expected to double over the next 30 years.

Arup has worked on initial designs and last October a team featuring Gensler, Atkins and Bam Construct was appointed to draw up a blueprint for redeveloping the station over the short to long term, including how to incorporate HS2 and potentially HS3 with other transport services.

The station was last overhauled more than 15 years ago which was construction managed by the then Bovis.

Opportunities to work on the scheme were due to be discussed at this week’s Mipim conference in Cannes.
