German developer Patrizia says work at 108 Old Broad Street will finish next summer
McLaughlin & Harvey has won a £50m deal to upgrade a 1990s office in the Square Mile.
Pinners Hall at 108 Old Broad Street was originally built in 1993 for the British Bankers Associated and designed by Fitzroy Robinson on the site of the 19th century hall of the Pinners.
But site owner, Singapore-based Far East Broad Street (UK), described the building as having “main plant systems at end of life [while] many of the interior design features are dated”.

Under architect Stiff & Trevillion’s plan, the building, which contains six upper floors, a ground floor and lower ground floor, will be given an extensive makeover that will see 15% more net lettable area, bringing the building to approximately 120,000sq ft.
The scheme, which was given planning last autumn, will include refurbishing the reception, cores and offices and adding rooftop function space as well as landscaped communal terraces.
The site, opposite the City office of banking giant Lloyds, is next door to 75 London Wall, the former home of Deutsche Bank, which is being upgraded by Multiplex and over the road from 55 Old Broad Street, a Landsec project due to be built by Skanska and where Keltbray has been carrying out since demolition since January.
Development manager on 108 Old Broad Street is German firm Patrizia while others on the scheme include project manager Quartz, cost consultant Gardiner & Theobald, structural engineer Civic, M&E engineer GDM and landscape architect Studio GB.
The building has been stripped out with Patrizia saying main construction started earlier this month with a finish due in August next year.
