Consultant Mouchel has said the outlook for its UK business is improving and has appointed a finance director

David Tilson, who has previously worked for Balfour Beatty, Amec and Atkins, joins Mouchel on 13 September, replacing Kevin Young.

In a trading update released on Wednesday, Mouchel said it was confident about the future owing to increased outsourcing opportunities. It said: “The medium and longer-term outlook is becoming increasingly positive as the new government’s policies are implemented across central and local government.”

The update follows a turbulent period for the firm. Shares have fallen by half over the past year; in the six months to 31 January, turnover fell 12% from £366m to £312m and the firm made a pre-tax loss of £3.5m.
