TP Bennett chosen as architect and masterplanner for Westgate area project
Muse Developments has been appointed by Dartford Borough Council to lead the £75m regeneration of the town’s Westgate area. TP Bennett is the architect and masterplanner on the scheme.
The mixed-use development will see the creation of 140 new homes (39 being affordable), which will encompass one, two and three-bedroom apartments spread across four new buildings.
A 109-bed hotel on the former Co-op store site will be constructed, with four upper floors containing rooms in a mix of sizes, with larger units behind the building’s façade.
The proposed scheme will also comprise 37,250ft2 for restaurant and bar space, nearly3,500m2 of retail floor space, a multi-storey car park with 167 spaces and a public square.
Discussions are also underway with the local Clinical Commissioning Group to partner on the potential creation of a new health facility providing space for GPs, family healthcare, social care providers and mental health services.
Muse is looking to submit a planning application next summer and to start on site by spring 2019. Dartford Borough Council and the developer will be holding public consultation events early next year.
