National Museums Liverpool appoints Osprey Moot Macdonald as project manager of £65m waterfront museum.

Osprey Mott MacDonald has been appointed as project manager for the £65m Museum of Liverpool.

Osprey Mott MacDonald’s role involves the management of the complete scheme including the development of the exhibition and the experience elements in the social history museum.

The museum designed by Danish architects 3XN is proposed for Mann Island which lies between Albert Dock and the famous pier head buildings.

It will represent the interests of the client National Museums Liverpool during negotiations with NWDA, GONW, Liverpool Vision and Liverpool City Council.

Liverpool-based firm Walfords were this week appointed cost managers and exhibition master planners are expected to be appointed in early February.

Construction will commence in early 2006 subject to funding being raised from the North West Development Agency, European Region Development Fund and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Completion is aimed for 2008 when Liverpool becomes European Capital of Culture.
