The Royal Town Planning Institute has this week appointed Ann Skippers to take over as president from Martin Willey.

Ann Skippers

Skippers, a former planning officer at Chelmsford Borough Council, runs a planning consultancy with her husband and is currently Senior Vice President at the body.

She will be President for 12 months and has more than twenty years experience in planning and planning education.

She said she was delighted to become RTPI President, and would focus on raising the profile of the profession.

She said: “In an election year it will be even more crucial to champion the value of planning and planners on behalf of the profession. Promoting planning as a career to young people is also something I am very passionate about.”
