David Pretty has been appointed chief executive of housebuilder Barratt after the death of Frank Eaton in a car crash earlier this month.
Pretty became acting chief executive of Barratt after Eaton’s death; he has been a main board director since 1990.

Eaton, the group’s chief executive and chairman, was killed in a car crash near Barratt’s Newcastle headquarters on 7 October. He was 52. Former Abbey National deputy chief executive Charles Toner has been appointed chairman.

The appointments were announced to the City last Friday and had been expected by analysts.

The group said its annual meeting, which had been postponed in the wake of Eaton’s death, would take place on 3 December.
