Retail specialist Simons Group has streamlined its senior management structure in an attempt to bring its top directors closer to its clients.

It has stripped out a layer of management below the group board which comprised the 15 members of the developments, design and construction boards.

There will be no redundancies but a Simons source said the 15 would now “concentrate more on their day jobs”.

The group board, which has five directors, including chief executive Paul Hodgkinson, will continue to operate as before.

Hodgkinson said: “We’ve read the market and we’ve taken steps to tighten our business so that we can commit to our customers’ growth plans as the recovery picks up.”
