Sixty staff at Warrington-based contractor £30m-turnover Globe Management Services and its sister firm Globe Construction Management have lost their jobs as the firms entered administration and liquidation yesterday.

Accountant Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery was appointed joint administrators of Globe Management Services and its parent company Aprilis Holdings yesterday.

The administrator said another group company, Globe Construction Management, was expected to enter creditors voluntary liquidation soon.

Sixty staff at the group - whose clients included developers St Modwen and Derwent and retailer Sainsbury’s - were made redundant with immediate effect and a small number were retained to assist with the administration.

The administrators have appointed an quantity surveyor Naismith to review around 21 ongoing projects.

Lindsey Cooper, partner at Baker Tilly, said the directors of the firm had “little choice” but to enter administration given the firm’s “financial issues”.

She added: “Regrettably, we have had to make around 60 staff redundant, and our specialist employee team has been assisting them to make claims with the Redundancy Payments Office.”
