Housebuilder wins private housebuilder of the year and placemaking award and Barratt, Bellway and Persimmon are among other prize winners.

Barratt, Bellway, Persimmon and St James were among the housebuilders that picked up awards in the Building Communities Awards 2005, hosted by Building at the Hilton Hotel in London’s Park Lane last night.

Barratt picked up the award for best planning and land regeneration strategy while Bellway won the award for rural housing development of the year for its Charlton Down scheme in Dorchester. Persimmon Homes was named energy efficient housebuilder of the year and St James picked up two prizes: the private housebuilder of the year title and the placemaking award for its Kew Riverside development in west London.

Other prize winners in the glittering ceremony were: Widacre Homes with Circle Anglia (for best supply chain or partnering), Keepmoat (for best training innovation), Midas Homes (for customer service team of the year), Broadway Malyan Architects (for community consultation), United House (for technical and IT innovation), Pace Group/Cartwright Pickard Architects (for best off-site innovation), Midas Homes with Devon & Cornwall Housing Association (for public/private partnership), Davis Duncan Architects (for urban housing development of the year) and Dominion Housing Group (for affordable housing provider of the year).
