Stock exchanged: The Corporation of London this week granted planning permission for the redevelopment of a site in Old Broad Street owned by the stock exchange. The scheme, designed by Grimshaw, includes 50,000 m2 of offices and 2800 m2 of shops. The 1970s 26-storey Exchange Tower, in the centre of the picture, will be reclad and upgraded and two additional office blocks built. The stock exchange plans to sell the site with planning consent to a developer when it moves to Paternoster Square near St Paul’s Cathedral. The project team includes QS Davis Langdon & Everest and structural and services engineer Arup.
