A 23,000-seat arena and bar are two of the attractions at the O2 entertainment complex, which opens this weekend. It is the product of a £350m conversion of the Millennium Dome in Greenwich, south-east London.

Designed by architect HOK Sport, the arena can stage concerts and sports events. Sir Robert McAlpine, which constructed the original dome in 2000, has converted it for property developer AEG. Buro Happold was structural engineer, M-E engineers was the services engineer and WT Partnership and the EC Harris were the cost consultants.
